TO

Make provision for Members of the House of Lords to vote at elections to the House of Commons.

Be it enacted by the Queen’s most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Lords Spiritual and Temporal, and Commons, in this present Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—

1 Voting at elections to the House of Commons

Notwithstanding any rule of law to the contrary, a Member of the House of Lords shall not be disqualified by virtue of that membership from voting at elections to the House of Commons.

2 Extent, commencement and short title

(1) This Act extends to the whole of the United Kingdom.

(2) Section 1 comes into force at the end of the period of twelve months beginning with the day on which this Act is passed.

(3) This section comes into force on the day on which this Act is passed.

(4) This Act may be cited as the Extension of Franchise (House of Lords) Act 2016.
